Seniors in the Town of Oyster Bay, age 60 and older, enjoy a wide variety of social and recreational programs provided by the Town and through independently sponsored senior citizen clubs.
SENIOR CITIZEN SERVICES
Services within the clubs include bridge, line dancing, tai chi, yoga, exercise, ballroom dancing, and painting. Clubs sponsor monthly luncheons and trips. The Town provides teaching specialists and materials for most activities, which are held at the North Massapequa Community Center, Marjorie R. Post Community Center, William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center, Syosset-Woodbury Community Center and the Town of Oyster Bay Hicksville Athletic Center.
Senior Citizen Services also provides day trips to luncheons, museums, Valentine’s Day celebrations, fall festivals, Seniors Day, and much more.
Our Senior Summer Program runs during July and August each year and provides our Town seniors the opportunity to enjoy a myriad of free activities at our various community parks and centers. The summer program features crafts, exercise, tai chi, yoga, line dancing, card playing, board games, exercise in the pool, social dancing to live music, special entertainment and socialization time over coffee or tea. Our summer program runs simultaneously and takes place at the Bethpage Community Park, Glen Head Community Center, Marjorie R. Post Community Center in Massapequa, Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park and the Syosset-Woodbury Community Park.
